background and Performance philosophy

My background in belly dance includes both classic Egyptian and other SWANA styles, American Cabaret as well as Fusion Belly Dance.

Fusion Belly Dance is a modern dance form with a lineage developed through styles like FatChanceBellyDance (FCBD) and Datura Style. Through a contemporary lens, it draws inspiration from movement and costuming traditions across the MENAHT region (Middle East, North Africa, Hellenic/Greek, and Turkey) and South Asia.

Alongside belly dance, I work within the world of flow arts, incorporating props like poi (with roots in Polynesian practice), double staffs (which draw from baton twirling), fans, hoops, etc.

As defined by the Flow Arts Institute, “The broad category 'Flow Arts' includes a variety of pursuits that harmonize skill-based techniques with creative expression to achieve a state of present-moment awareness known as Flow [State]."

I also use LED technology and fire to create dynamic, high-impact performances that are elemental, immersive, and alive.

At the core of my work is a focus on embodiment and energy. Each performance is built around intention or feeling: whether that’s hypnotic, atmospheric, celebratory, high-energy, or surreal. I also think in terms of elements: fire, water, air, and earth. My performances channel these concepts in a way that people don’t just watch, but feel.

I approach all of these art forms with respect for their cultural origins, continuing to learn from and honor the traditions that inspire and inform my work.

Embodied Philosophy & Elemental Movement Practice

I have a certificate in Holistic Health from San Francisco State University and I completed two Yoga Teacher certificates in India.

Through this background, I learned to view dance and movement as a healing modalities to let go of blocked emotional energy, transmute pain and suffering, regulate the nervous system, and exercise both the mind and body for optimal overall well-being. All of the disciplines that I practice somehow incorporate strengthening my relationship to breath, presence, catharsis and expression.

Though my interdisciplinary studies, I became familiar with the core philosophy that elemental balance in the body and environment leads to overall well-being.

Variations of this philosophy appear across many traditions, including Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Tibetan Medicine, each offering their own framework.
Across these systems, the elements are reflected in qualities that affect every aspect of daily life, shaping our energy, emotion, and physiology.

I have found that cultivating balance is supported by practicing movement in all four elements, and I have developed an intentional elemental training system for my life. My movement practice explores balance through Fire, Water, Air, and Earth as pathways to artistic expression and well-being.

Fire → fire dancing

Water → mermaiding

Air → silk fans & fabric props

Earth → belly dance & floorwork

Together these form a holistic approach to performance rooted in both artistry and embodied well being.
